The truth behind the root canal cover up

Published February 9, 2002 in the North Island Weekender

Mike came to me complaining of headaches for the past two years. In my questionnaire I ask if patients have had a root canal and how many amalgam fillings they have. The article I wrote on heavy metal toxicity in April 2001 is available at the office. In this article I want to address the health of the mouth and what a physician can learn from examining it. Mike had had a root canal two years before and the headaches had developed after that. He had wanted the tooth extracted, however the dentist convinced him to keep the tooth and have a root canal.
Biological dentists are those who follow the research of Dr. Hal Huggins, Dr. Klinghardt and others in their analysis of teeth. Each tooth corresponds to a different organ in the body and it is felt that when a root canal is performed that microscopic amounts of toxic debris cannot be entirely eliminated from the canal, before it is capped. This leads to organ breakdown over many years and faster in those whose immune systems are compromised.
I examined Mike’s mouth and found a mouth full of mercury from old amalgams, a coated white tongue, receding, red and inflamed gums. From this I learned that he not only had a problem from the root canal, but heavy metal toxicity, yeast overgrowth due to the coated tongue and probably deficiencies of Vitamin C, A, zinc, CoQ10 and calcium due to the poor state of the gums.
I talked to him about his oral hygiene and recommended the disposable floss sticks made by Maxill-DH as well as using an antibacterial toothpaste made of citricidal. This toothpaste does not contain fluoride as I feel it is a toxin that we should stay away from. Citricidal is known to kill bacteria, fungus and viruses and those who use it regularly are told by their dentists that their dental hygiene is greatly improved. Toothpaste generally contains chalk, water, paint, seaweed, antifreeze, paraffin oil, detergent, peppermint, formaldehyde and fluoride according to David Bodanis in his book The Secret House. Our office will soon be providing the only toothpaste available that does not contain sodium laurel sulphate made by Ferlow Brothers. Their website is www.ferlowbrothers.com. Sodium laurel sulphate is a common ingredient of most shampoos, creams, toothpastes and cleaners for its foaming qualities. It causes skin irritation and dermatitis and when it reacts with other cosmetics and food supplements can form carcinogenic nitrates and dioxins.
Other simple healthy teeth cleaners are hydrogen peroxide and baking soda!
Simple supplements I recommended to Mike to provide optimal oral health included a good mineral supplement with adequate calcium and magnesium and an antioxidant formula containing Vitamin C and A. We did the simple zinc taste test in the office and found he was deficient so high doses of zinc were recommended for one month and a retest done one month later. CoQ10 is so effective for gum problems that it is recommended separatelyand indefinitely. It is also very good for heart disease and cancer prevention.
Mike chose to have his tooth removed and was headache free within days! For further information regarding your dental health see Tooth Truth by Frank Jerome and The Root Canal Coverup by Dr. Meinig.
