This is a time of year when we reflect on how we can live our lives with more love, joy, and health. Many people contemplate a cleansing program of some sort along with adding some healthy lifestyle habits. Whatever you do, however seemingly small, is a step on the road to change, which is very difficult for humans to do. I feel that the biggest stumbling block to good health is a fear of or resistance to change.
I would encourage you to look at Mary Carroll Moore's book How to Master Change in Your Life for a step by step approach to instigating change in your life. Start a monthly study group with your closest friends to share the experience!

Dr. Bethea explains that insulin causes unused sugar to be stored as fat, and stimulates the liver to produce cholesterol. The Boalusa Study showed that a rising insulin level preceded onset of diabetes, symptomatic cardiovascular disease, hypertension, and obesity, and was noticed in blood work before changes in blood fats and sugar levels were noted. Dr. Bethea states that when a food is labelled low fat and low cholesterol, it should also be labelled high in sugar!

Three thousand peptic ulcer sufferers were cured with water alone. Other diseases of dehydration include asthma, hypertension, allergies and arthritis. The human body is 75% water and the brain tissue is about 85% water. Drinking water through a straw allows you to drink four times as much before you feel full. Avoid drinking water with a meal as this dilutes the digestive enzymes. Drink water half an hour before the mean and/or two hours after. Tea, coffee, alcohol, and manufactured beverages are not substitutes for water. They contribute to the dehydration of the body. Drink one to four 8-ounce glasses of water upon rising , one or two half an hour before every meal, and another one or two two 2 hours after the dinner meal. For every hour of heavy work or exercise add four 8-ounce glasses of water. Fresh fruit and vegetable juices and unsweetened herbal teas count as water intake. Eating water-rich fresh fruit and vegetables also provides you with the equivalent of two or three 8-ounce glasses of water.

Soup and Weight Loss - Researchers at the Institute of Behaviroal Education in Pennsylvania found that eating soup at the beginning of a meal slows the rate of eating and fills the stomach, signalling the brain to reduce the appetite.
