NATUROPATHIC WISDOM NOTES

FROM THE DESK OF DR. PINCOTT

This is our first office newsletter to introduce to you services provided by our clinic and to also give you some healthful hints. We hope to print it bi-monthly and it will be freely available at the office.

Dr. Pincott would like to inform you that she is getting fabulous results with the ULTRACLEAR detoxification program. It is a simplified program of diet and/or fasting with ingesting ULTRACLEAR powder twice or more daily, to really cleanse that over-worked liver of yours! Of course colonic irrigations in addition to this program work fabulously! This approach is particularly good for chronic illnesses as it works gently.

Are you asthmatic or suspect you are? Ask for a spirometry test. It is a very economical in-office test that is underused in the evaluation of asthmatics. If your asthma is severe this test should be repeated yearly.

The comprehensive stool analysis with parasite testing is a sure diagnosis for colon cancer risk, candida, dysbiosis, malabsorption syndrome, and bacteria and parasite analysis. Please enquire at the office for more information.

Are you taking cortisone? If so, you should be concerned about bone density. Ask about OSTEOPRIME - an excellent mineral supplement that gives you better bone protection than calcium, magnesium and Vitamin D alone.

Sudden and easy cessation of smoking may relate to diagnosis of lung cancer in long term smokers. If this sounds familiar contact your M.D. for complete evaluation and see your Naturopathic Physician for an anti-oxidant program.

Eating 12 or more hot dogs or frankfurters a month increases the rate of leukemia in children 9 times!

Dr. Pincott will be giving a series of lectures in the fall:

  1. Naturopathic Treatments in The Home (North Shore and Delta)
  2. Preventing and Reversing Osteoporosis, and Understanding Menopause (North Shore)
  3. Homeopathic Medicine in The Home (North Shore)

Capsaicin in chili pepper and cayenne pepper has been proven, by Chinese investigators, to be protective against gastric ulcer development. It increases mucosal blood flow and acts as an anti-inflammatory and both these factors assist in healing and repair.

Smokers are at a greater risk of developing peptic ulcer.

Women smokers are at a greater risk of reduced bone density, so be sure and take Osteoprime or a calcium and magnesium citrate combination, if you are still smoking.

Are you not sure what foods maybe bothering you? Our vega tester Anita, can help solve the mystery for you. We consider the test to be considerably accurate to get you on the road to health and vitality. It is a good evaluation for children over the age of 5. Please enquire at the office for more information.

Exercise three times a week for 20 minutes at 70% of maximum heart rate for at least 6 months will greatly contribute to relief of symptoms of fibromyalgia.

Having surgery? Surgeons who play music they like during surgery had lower pulse rates and blood pressure and the task speed and accuracy was improved!

Do you use a loofah sponge? Any sponge or washcloth that remains wet can harbour a bacteria called pseudomonas aeruginosea. To minimize the risk of this infection, soak sponges in 10% solution of household bleach for five minutes.

Have you been drinking Vancouver city water? Are you concerned about heavy metal toxicity? A hair analysis is the best way to determine heavy metal levels in the body. Please enquire at the office for more information.

Most young women don't exercise enough or get adequate amounts of calcium in their diet to protect against osteoporosis later in life. Women consider osteoporosis to be less serious than heart disease and breast cancer despite the facts that 50% of all menopausal women will be affected by osteoporosis, compared to 33% who will develop heart disease, and 11% who will be affected by breast cancer. Low calcium intake and lack of exercise are risk factors identified by most women, however other risk factors were not known by them ie: family history, loss of estrogen after menopause, menstrual irregularities, smoking, being caucasian, and history of prolonged bed rest.

Does your child suffer from asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, tonsillitis and laryngitis even in spite of naturopathic treatment? Second hand smoke is linked to chronic illnesses in children.

For those of you who want to know what your blood chemistry can tell you, consider the Health Equations evaluation. A routine blood chemistry is organized in such a way that it is very clear what the main imbalances are. Corrective treatments include diet manipulations, electrolyte and mineral solutions, and correction of oxidation levels. Please enquire at the office for more information.
